FAQs

Will I be able to manage the coursework while teaching full-time?

We know how busy you are!! Our courses are designed to credit you time implementing course material into your classroom/educational setting. Our goal is to teach you skills and share information and material that you can then take back to the classroom to use.

Do I have to be “online” at the same time (as other students) in order to participate in discussions?

Our online courses are run “Asynchronous” – students do not need to be online at the same time to participate in discussions. In asynchronous settings, an instructor will communicate with students by “posting to a forum” a discussion topic for students to explore and respond to. Students read the topic discussion at the beginning of the class and add their knowledge/questions to the topic discussion link. Students are then expected to return during the week to read and respond to peers’ postings.

How and when will I receive my course grade and how do I order an official transcript?

Grades/transcripts will not be sent via snail mail. Students will have two options for accessing their SNHU grades, an unofficial grade report, and an unofficial or official transcript. Students should try submitting a request for an unofficial grade report first, as there is no cost associated. It is also best to view your grades prior to ordering a transcript to make sure everything looks correct. To accomplish this, the first thing you should do is navigate to the my.SNHU.edu portal (copy/paste into your URL). You will log in with your system-created SNHU email account. The default account login is firstname.lastname@snhu.edu. (If you have a common name, there may be a number added to the account.) To accomplish this, the first thing you should do is navigate to the my.SNHU.edu portal (copy/paste into your URL). You will log in with your system-created SNHU email account. You will be asked to set your password up from the login screen. Once you are in the system, the left-hand menu will have options that include printing the grades you need. If you would rather jump right into ordering an official transcript, you can visit our transcript ordering website to request your transcript, or visit our SNHU Tools and Resources page for more information. If you run into any issues or have any questions, you can reach out to https://www.snhu.edu/online-degrees/classes. The folks there are incredibly knowledgeable and can jump into anyone’s account at any time! Mail your official transcript to the Maine Department of Education, Certification Dept. 23 State House Station Augusta, ME 04333-0023, (207) 624-6603.

Will I be able to transfer credits from the courses I take through the Maine Educators’ Consortium, to my Master’s Program at another college?

Graduate credits are awarded by Southern New Hampshire University, SNHU is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and therefore should qualify for credit transfer. However, transfer of credit is permitted solely at the discretion of the accepting institution. It is the student’s responsibility (prior to registration) to confirm whether or not credits earned by SNHU, via the Maine Educators’ Consortium, will be accepted.
