EDMA 502ME Numeracy for the Young Child

In this course students will learn theories of early childhood development and their influence on the teaching of math concepts to young children. Students will explore recommendations by the National Association for the Education of Young Children as well as the Maine Early Learning Guideline standards regarding math concepts.

Students will learn developmentally appropriate ways to integrate math into the early childhood curriculum. Students will also create and practice math games, activities, and approaches with students.
