Taught by a member of the National Art Educator Association with nearly two decades of Fine Arts education and experience, Methods of Teaching Art Education in the K-12 classroom is rooted first in an established studio practice as well as in best practices for teaching art. We will explore dynamic ways to ensure you maintain your personal studio practice while developing methods to inspire young innovators to pursue their own studio art practice using the Maine Learning Results for teaching visual arts. Covering art methods from basic creative studies to the craft of creative and digital storytelling to principles of studio arts in action, Art Educators in this course will leave with a renewed sense of artistic practice and the confidence to put research into the practice of teaching art to children and young adults. We will also touch on basic art history and the history of art education in keeping with the elements of the Maine Art Educator Endorsement, 620.
